Decision

In the previous step, our character faced a dilemma as to what to do next. Now, it’s time for them to make a choice.

Whatever your character decides, it’s going to set up a new goal for them. That new goal kicks off an entirely new scene, with its own conflict, disaster, etc.

Characters’ decisions help link scenes together.

Sometimes, decisions need to be made without a “formal” reaction and decision steps. For example, in a life and death scenario, the character may jump into action (a new goal) right away. Sometimes (not always) there’s time for reaction later.
